Mgarr United stumbled to a draw against Sirens and failed to take the opportunity to leapfrog St. Lucia after the later drew against Ghaxaq.
Mgarr went close in the opening minutes through Matthew Muscat and after 15 minutes went down when Sirens opened the score on a counter attack. The Greens kept pressing and went close through Chris Abela and the same player was bought down by the Sirens keeper outside the area with the goalkeeper being only showed a yellow card although being the last man. Later on Mgarr were denied a penalty on a clear hands ball of a Sirens defender.
The second half saw Mgarr keeping the pressure on Sirens and going close again through Matthew Muscat and Chris Abela and on another occasion the Sirens keeper made a miracle to keep the score intact with a reflex save on the goal line. Sirens tried their luck through solitary counter attacks and also went close on one occasion. Mgarr kept pressing and equalised through a nice scissor kick by player coach Vesko Petrovic. Mgarr had another chance through Matthew Muscat and in injury time Chris Abela missed a sitter so the game finished in a 1-1.
