BOV 3rd DivisionMatthew Muscat find the net again as Mgarr United defeated Mdina by a single goal. This was a very important match for both sides as they try to end the season on a high seeking promotion at the top of the table.
Mgarr find it difficult the first 15 minutes with Mdina pressing to score, in the 16th minute came the first chance for United when Chris Abela was served by Alan Zahra just outside the box but his shot went high. United had another couple of good moves, Chris Abela had his goal disallowed for offside. In the 30th minute Matthew Muscat managed to steal the ball, finds himself clean through to put Mgarr in front. Minutes later it was Mgarr mentor who made a fantastic save to keep both side separated by Muscat's goal at half time.
James Borg was the only keeper brought into action in the second half as Mdina pressed to equalize but the keeper done really well. As the second half progressed United allowed the Knights to press. Mdina went close in the 50th minute when they hit the bar. Minutes later James Borg (man of the match) made a fantastic save which is described the best so far with United shirt, Mdina attacker find himself alone in front but his try was deflected thanks to Jonathan Ebejer's tackle, the ball flipped over the keeper but James Borg managed to keep the ball out just on the line. The end result saw United move fourth in the table with 24 points.
